Ray Lorigo
Guitarist/Composer
Bio
Ray Lorigo has been playing guitar and electric bass since he was around 14 years old. Ray grew up with friends that were excellent artists and musicians, and he was greatly influenced by them. He owes much to being and playing with them as it pushed him too always be better. Although Ray makes no claims to being a great guitarist, he has primarily played classical style for the past many years along with some light jazz, many original pieces and even rock songs.
Ray has played steadily at many places in Western New York, such as Roswell Park Cancer Institute for over ten years and many coffee shops and cafes such as the Daily Planet on Hertel and Murphy’s Café (unfortunately no longer in business) in Niagara Falls. Ray has begun playing at Oishei Children’s Hospital also.
Ray has also played in many bands. He founded a band called Cloudwall back in the 90’s that lasted for quite a while, making the rounds of venues like Nietzsche’s and many places in Buffalo’s ever-changing bar, club and restaurant scene. Most recently he was a member of The Dreaming, which was a progressive style band using acoustic and electric instruments along with two amazing vocalists. The Dreaming was able to play many amazing gigs, such as opening up for the progressive band “the Strawbs’ at the Tralfamadore Café downtown. The Dreaming also performed for several Music is Art events, was on ‘Off Beat Cinema’ and was on the Adelphia Cable network as a featured artist. Ray even played in a rock band called The Quest back in the 80’s.
The Quest played many locations such as a bar called The Brown Baron (now GFY). The Quest had a gig in Alden called The Second Annual Milgrove Massacre for several hundred bikers. Ray remembers this as an amazing experience.
